Question: What are specialists' current opinions on Basque's linguistic relationships to any other languages? Rene Lafon in Word, 1951 and 1952, offered morphological correspondences between Basque and the various Caucasian languages. These were verbal and nominal affixes; no phonological correspondences were given. What is the current thinking on this possible relationship today? I will summarize any responses. Thank you. Re: Caroline Smith message on Linguist From: Mario Saltarelli saltarelMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuemizar.usc.edu I was pleased to read Caroline's message and would like to know more about ETI technology for molti-dialect text-to-speach as I am at present in the developing phase of a project on some forty related dialects of modern Italian. I would be interested in learning more about ETI technology and the possibilities of research collaboration. Mario Saltarelli (Professor, USC)
