Controlled English/Editing Assistant

Diebold, Incorporated is a leader in the development and sale of ATMs, 
financial transaction equipment and security technology to markets 
worldwide. We are currently soliciting applications for the position of 
Controlled English/Editing Assistant. This is a full-time position at 
the Diebold Corporate Headquarters and R&D facility in North Canton 
Ohio. 

Duties:
-Assist head lexicographer in defining Controlled English vocabulary 
 used in technical documentation. 
-Assist in maintaining lexical database. 
-Editing of technical documentation.

Applicable skills and experience:
-lexical analysis
-substantial experience with a foreign language 
-syntactic analysis
-glossary development
-database maintenance
-linguistics coursework in core theoretical fields such as syntax, 
 semantics, phonology
-advanced coursework in language-related field
-advanced writing
-lexicography or lexically-oriented linguistics
-technical writing
-editing
-advanced writing
-excellent verbal and written communication skills
-flexible
-comfortable working in a team environment

Tenure-Track Position in Linguistics

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Calgary invites
applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the level of
Assistant Professor. Primary research interests should be in one or more
of the following areas: morphology, semantics, and grammaticalization. An
additional research emphasis in one of the following areas would be an
asset: languages of the Americas, in particular Spanish and/or aboriginal
languages of North America; sociolinguistics; neurolinguistics or
psycholinguistics. The successful applicant will be expected to teach
undergraduate and graduate courses in Linguistics. The position will
commence on July 1, 1998, and candidates should have a Ph.D. in
Linguistics by this date. Please submit a CV, a statement of research
interests, sample publications, evidence of a commitment to excellence in
teaching, and arrange to have three confidential letters of reference

Qualifications:

 TESOL, instructional technology or speech communication.

Duties: 1) 10 credit hours/week (Ph.D.)---minimum.
 2) Rendering service at the departmental level.
 3) Commitment to teaching and research.
 4) Advising Students

Salaries: 1) Assistant professor--NT$ 62,180 (2,200 US dollars)/month
