Hi, BYU's procedures are pretty excessive relative to ours. Our IRB offers a waiver condition: projects that fall into one of several categories can be waived from further review by the chief administrator of the IRB. Thus, the IRB never sees the proposals. All my psycholinguistic proposals to date have qualified for the waiver, and I suspect virtually all linguistic proposals would qualify. The form requesting the waiver is relatively simple (2-3 pages). The most complex thing required is a description of the experimental procedure. Good luck! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Danny R.
