Call for Papers

Time and Venue
The conference starts on the morning of Saturday, May 9, 1998, and ends
on the evening of Monday, May 10.
The conference will be held at the W\179\243kniarz Hotel in Szczyrk, almost at
the foot of Skrzyczne and Klimczok Mountains
in the Beskidy Range.
The bus from Bielsko-Biala railway station stops in the centre of
Szczyrk, a few minutes walk from the hotel building.
The arrival time is May 8, 1998 or early morning of May 9, 1998.

Preliminary Programme
The PASE Conferences traditionally bring together scholars from Polish
universities interested in all aspects of studies of
English literature, culture, and linguistics. The programme will include
an inaugural lecture and parallel sections of individual
papers, a poster section, and social events for participants.

Topics
Papers are invited on all aspects of English:
1. Literature
2. Theory of Literature
3. Cultural Studies
4. Theoretical Linguistics
5. Applied Linguistics

Submission
Submission will be refereed by a panel of referees for each major topic,
and the final programme will be selected by the
Conference Organisers. Individual presentations should be timed to last
20 minutes, followed by a ten-minute discussion
period. The language of presentation will be English.
Authors should send two copies of one-page double spaced abstract of
their paper in English by MARCH 10, 1998 to
the Conference Organizers at the address above. The abstract should
contain the title of the paper, name(s), affiliation(s)
and complete address(es) of author(s).
All authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection of their papers.

Exhibitions and Demonstrations
There will be an exhibition of English books and CALL software
demonstrations.

Registration
The Registration fee will be 70 zloty (20 US dollars at the present rate
of exchange) and will be waived for PASE
members paying their dues. The Registration fee covers the academic
programme, all documentation, and coffee break
refreshments but not accommodation.

Food and Accommodation
All accommodation will be booked in the Wl\243kniarz Hotel. The total cost
of three meals and accommodation will be 80
zloty per day.
