A discussion of Irish-isms came up on another list and has left us with a puzzle: "I'm after going to the pub to fetch me Gran" Does it mean a) I will go to the pub to get Granny or b) I've already gone to the pub and got Granny Thanks in advance Alysse Rasmussen, danrMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueinetw.net Instructor, Lake Sumter Community College Freelance Lecturer, Florida School for the Deaf http://members.aol.com/alysser/
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had some experience using hand-held scanners for library work. I am considering scanning portions of theses and manuscripts that might not be readily borrowable for photocopying. If you have experience with these, I would like to know: 1. How well they will scan a journal, ms., or thesis page as text. 2. How well they will scan a handwritten page as an image. 3. What currently available scanner would be the best one to buy. If there is considerable interest, I will summarize responses for the list. ******************************************************************* * Stanley Dubinsky E-mail: dubinskyMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuesc.edu * * Linguistics Program phone: 803-777-2056 * * U of South Carolina fax: 803-777-9064 * * Columbia, SC 29208 * *******************************************************************
