A discussion of Irish-isms came up on another list and has left us
with a puzzle:

"I'm after going to the pub to fetch me Gran"

Does it mean
a) I will go to the pub to get Granny
or
b) I've already gone to the pub and got Granny

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had some experience
using hand-held scanners for library work. I am considering scanning
portions of theses and manuscripts that might not be readily borrowable
for photocopying. If you have experience with these, I would like to
know:

1. How well they will scan a journal, ms., or thesis page as text.

2. How well they will scan a handwritten page as an image.

3. What currently available scanner would be the best one to buy.

If there is considerable interest, I will summarize responses for the list.
