======================================================================== CALL FOR PAPERS The Linguistic Association of Finland organizes a workshop PROSODY AND GRAMMAR IN INTERACTION to be held at the University of Helsinki August 13-15, 1997 The workshop provides an opportunity for researchers of prosody and grammar to discuss issues such as the following: What kind of interplay is there between prosody and grammar? Is it possible to study the grammar of spoken language without taking prosody into account? Are syntactic and prosodic units related to each other? How do lexicon and meaning participate in producing prosody? What is the relationship between prosody, syntax of utterances and interactional meaning of utterances? What is the role of prosody in constituting different kinds of conversational activities? What kind of impact does prosody have on turn-taking in conversation? What kind of physiological and acoustic factors do prosodic features emerge from?
