Dear fellow linguists of the Northwest, For those of you who were unable to submit an abstract for NWLC '97 (due to the end of term "crunch"), we have extended the submission deadline to May 1st. Please spread the word. N.B.: The Proceedings will be published. NORTHWEST LINGUISTIC CONFERENCE 1997 (NWLC 97) UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA VANCOUVER, B.C. MAY 24 - 25, 1997 Papers are invited for NWLC 97, a student-run conference. Papers are welcome on topics from all areas of linguistics, including papers which describe work in progress. Please submit 3 anonymous copies of a one page abstract with an additional page for references. Please also send a separate sheet identifying the title of the paper, author's name, affiliation, regular mailing address, email address, phone number, and fax number. Each paper will be assigned 30 minutes: 20 minutes for presentation followed by a 10 minute question/discussion period. Deadline for receipt of abstracts is NOW MAY 1, 1997. Emailed abstracts are welcomed. Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged via email within 48 hours. Preference will be given to student papers, although faculty papers will also be considered. In keeping with NWLC tradition, preference will be given to submissions from local people. Crash space will be available.
