Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis. This monograph deals with the semantics of the French modal verb 'devoir' in a predominantly cognitive perspective. It is shown that the semantic space associated with this modal is best analysed as polysemous. The homonymous and monosemous analyses of verbs of this type are rejected. MON-KHMER Studies.
