We are now soliciting applications for the 2 LINGUIST fellowships, which will support student editors of LINGUIST in 1997-98. Graduate student editors of LINGUIST get more than just monetary support: they also have the opportunity to "listen in" daily on professional linguistic discussions; they gain familiarity with all phases of the Internet; and they acquire name recognition in the discipline. Please bring these fellowships to the attention of your students. In an effort to maintain the international character of the list, we welcome applications from students outside the USA. LINGUIST fellowship holders must have a good command of written English and must become degree-seeking students at either Texas A&M or Eastern Michigan U. Eastern Michigan U. offers a B.A. and M.A. in general linguistics. It is situated in Ypsilanti, MI (about 5 miles from Ann Arbor) in an active linguistics community. The LINGUIST fellow at EMU receives a full tuition waiver (for 15 graduate credit hours per year) plus a stipend of approximately $5000. Application deadline: March 15, 1997.
