We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Could someone, please, refer me to papers on the empathetic use of
deixis? One of my student is writing a term-paper on the use of
deixis in Margaret Atwood's Surfacing... Any relevant comment or
reference is welcome.

Subject: Renumber Program

Dear Fellow Linguists,

a little while ago, there existed a Renumbering program for example
sentences called "Renumber" for the IBM PC and use with Microsoft
Word. I have lost track of how to obtain this software and would
appreciate a pointer from somebody who knows how to get a hold of it.

Thanks for your help.

Best,

Gert Webelhuth

Message 3: Q: Old Indian Linguistics

Date: Wed, 18 Jun 1997 19:02:20 -0600
From: Andreas Mengel <mengelbabylon.kgw.TU-Berlin.DE>
Subject: Q: Old Indian Linguistics

Dear linguists,

does anyone of you know references to translations of old Indian
linguistics or grammar books? E.g.: Where is Sandhi described (first)?

My original question is: What other linguistic phenomena are named in
those grammar books?

Thank you.

Andreas Mengel.
