Dear Linguists, I am a linguist working at Lonely Planet Publications in Melbourne, Australia. Currently we are working at putting together a South Pacific phrasebook with sections on the various languages found in this vast area. Unfortunately we are having trouble finding someone to write the Cook Islands Maori (Rarotongan) section. If anyone could write the chapter or has any contacts please contact me. Of course due payment would be made. Thanks in advance, Peter D'Onghia Lonely Planet Publishing PO Box 617, Hawthorn Vic, 3122 Australia peteroMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuelonelyplanet.com.au
I found this 1994 in the list archives (posted by Alison Henry): Is anyone working on, or can anyone suggest references on, computational models of parameter setting in language acquisition? I'd like to ask the same question. Below is the result from her original query. Any additions would be great. Dear queries department, I am a Ph.D. student at Queen Mary and Westfield College at the University of London and am doing research on the history of the old Spanish sibilant. While researching language universals and typology, I have been unable to find any research in this area as it pertains to the sibilant or fricative. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might begin to find something centered around the sibilant? Thanks loads!
