I've got a question about the words "left" and "right": Grammatically, they are adjectives, but are they considered open-class or closed-class? Are all adjectives by definition open-class, or are they heterogeneous for this classification? Any references on this issue would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks! - Ed KakoMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
Does anyone know of a resource that discusses the variations/differences between the various forms of WRITTEN French around the world? How different is African French from European French and Quebecois? I am not interested in spoken differences, just written ones. Does anyone have any ideas where I might get any info? Thank you, Corey HellerMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
I am doing a phd in linguistics in Lausanne, on western european dialects. I do correlations between old phonetic changes, old lexicon, and genetics. Many linguistic atlases are not very rich in lexicon, for example the different linguistic atlases of U.K. Therefore i look for dialect specialists of the different U.K.dialects, as well as other western european dialects. Can you help me? Thanks in advance, Florent DieterlenMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
