It is with great sadness that we inform the linguistics community of the 
death of John Choi who was killed October 17 in a traffic accident 
at the age of 36. John was a graduate of UCLA Linguistics and was 
employed at AT&T Labs-Research. John is survived by his wife Karn 
King, also a member of the UCLA Linguistics community, and his parents, 
brother, and two sisters. A memorial service was held in New Jersey on 
October 21, and a funeral is planned in Northern California on October
24.
