DEADLINE REMINDER / DEADLINE REMINDER / DEADLINE REMINDER

The CogSci98 program committee invites and encourages you to submit a
paper, poster, or symposium proposal for possible inclusion in the
annual meeting program.

The official deadline for receipt of proposals for STANDARD poster
sessions, STANDARD paper sessions, and symposia was this Friday,
February 6. We will extend this deadline slightly and continue to
accept all forms of program proposals through Tuesday,
Feb. 10. Because of proceedings publication deadlines that are beyond
our control, SUBMISSIONS RECEIVED AFTER TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, WILL NOT
BE REVIEWED.

The deadline for one-page abstract poster submissions is not until
March 6, 1998.

NEW: Word processing templates for assisting proposers with paper
preparation can now be accessed through the "how to prepare a
camera-ready proceedings contribution" link from our main web site at

http://psych.wisc.edu/CogSci98/conf.html

CAUTION: Because idiosyncratic variations in formatting occur due to
individual word processing and printer settings, template users should
carefully check the outcome of their formatting results to ensure they
conform to formatting guidelines specified in the 1998 call for
papers. Papers that do not conform to formatting rules are being
returned to authors.

Co-Chairs, CogSci98

CHANGE in FOREIGN POSTAGE for 1998 COGSCI SOCIETY MEMBERS:

The journal "Cognitive Science" is published by Ablex Publishing, Inc.
For the first time, they are requiring all non-U.S. (rather than all
non-North American) subscribers to pay a supplement for postage and
the special handling required by the US Postal Service. On the
membership form you may have seen, the cost of foreign postage is
listed as $20 U.S. for surface mail, and $40 U.S. for airmail. Based
on our past rates, we have negotiated a lower price for airmail
service for our members, so that foreign airmail service will cost $28
U.S. for our members -- the same rate as in 1997. Anyone who has
already submitted the $40 fee will be reimbursed.

For more information or to join the society, see our web site at:
http:\www.umich.edu\~cogsci\ or send email to cogsciumich.edu.
