The first International Workshop was held with the name "Information Retrieval with Oriental Languages" in 1996, in Taejon, Korea, and the second, renamed as "Information Retrieval with Asian Languages" to increase the scope, was held in Tsukuba City in Japan in 1997. Papers should be at most 5000 words in length, and should be double-spaced. The first page must contain the title of the paper and an abstract of no more than 100 words, and no indication about the author(s) and affliation(s). In addition, authors must attach a separate page with the title, the author name(s) and respective affiliations, plus complete contact information (mailing address, telephone, fax, email) for the author to whom correspondence should be sent. Email will be the default means of communication.
