In the course of the discussion of my book EDUCATING EVE, Peter Daniels has written (posting 9.855) that "The book was/is not yet available in the USA. I have still not seen a copy, either at a library or at a bookstore". I am sorry that Peter Daniels has not managed to find a copy; no doubt some publishers are more successful than others at getting their wares placed in libraries and bookshops. But his statement that the book is not available in the USA is false. The US distributor is Cassell/Books International of Herndon VA, tel. 1-800-561 7704 or 703 661 1501. When I checked with the US-based online bookshop www.amazon.com this morning, EDUCATING EVE was listed (in stock locally, not for order across the Atlantic), at a price of $67.95. My publisher does not keep me up to the minute with sales progress (I don't think academic publishers usually do), but for instance in February she told me that the well-known New York bookshop Barnes & Noble had just ordered 40 copies.
