"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Tasks:
You will contribute to academic teaching and support within your area of expertise, primarily to undergraduate students in Spanish Language and Linguistics. You will join one of the research groups of the Communication and Information Sciences (CIW) division of the Faculty of Arts.

Requirements:
You should hold a relevant PhD in Spanish or Portuguese linguistics, native competence in Spanish, and a proven research interest and high quality publications in Spanish linguistics. Active knowledge of spoken Portuguese and/or experience with research in indigenous languages of South-America will be considered an asset.

Further particulars:
The appointment will be initially for one year. After satisfactory evaluation of the initial appointment, it can be continued for a longer period. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, there is a possibility for the 0.7 appointment to be completed to a full-time appointment during the first year. It is at this moment not certain, although not excluded, whether this supplement will also be available after the first year.

Salary:
The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel, and depending on experience, range from a minimum of € 3.227 up to a maximum of € 4.462, gross per month
(salary scale 11) based on a full-time employment.
