The Department of Linguistics at the University of Rochester invites applications for a one year non-tenure track appointment as a visiting assistant professor to begin July 1, 2013. We seek candidates with a record of research in syntax, and a record of excellence in teaching. Evidence of interest in interdisciplinary work is desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand before the appointment begins. Duties include teaching introductory linguistics and syntax courses in the undergraduate curriculum and working with graduate students in linguistics and allied fields such as experimental psychology and computer science.
The Department of Linguistics is part of a larger active interdisciplinary community consisting of faculty and students doing language research in linguistics, cognitive science, philosophy, computer science, and neuroscience. We seek candidates who are likely to benefit by those connections. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
