Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Job Description: The Department of World Languages invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in ESL and TESOL, starting in fall 2014. Doctoral candidate with ABD status having a concentration in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or Curriculum and Instruction with a strong ESL and TESOL background required by date of hire. Teaching responsibilities of this position include courses in our ESL, MA-TESOL, TESOL minor, and TESOL Graduate Certificate programs. A successful candidate will have experience and show promise for research and practice in the area of undergraduate program development, international program administration and/or pedagogical grammar. This position also involves supervision of student teachers and administrative duties. Knowledge of a foreign language, a minimum of three years experience in teaching ESL courses, and one year of overseas EFL teaching experience required.
