The Department of Linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin seeks applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor, with a specialization in historical linguistics. Duties include: -Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including our core undergraduate and graduate courses in historical linguistics -Directing thesis and dissertation research -Conducting original research and publication -Obtaining external funding, as needed, to support a strong research program -Advising undergraduate and graduate students -Performing department, college and institutional service The successful candidate should have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2013, should demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence as a teacher, researcher, advisor, and leader, and should show a strong commitment to working collaboratively with other faculty members, including those within the department as well as those scholars working in historical linguistics in allied departments.
