Job Description: Texas Tech University’s Department of English invites applications for a
tenure-track Assistant Professor in Linguistics with specialization in
Phonology. The area of specialization within Phonology is open. Additional
areas of expertise within Linguistics are desirable to support departmental
and interdisciplinary certificates as well as graduate and undergraduate
degree programs. Ph.D. required by starting date.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses,
serve on thesis and dissertation committees, provide service to the
department, the college, and the university as necessary, and pursue
scholarship or creative activity that attracts outside funding. 2/2 course
load guaranteed during first two years; then 3/3 with opportunities for
reduction to 3/2.

The Department of English at TTU is large (50 tenure-line faculty, 400
undergraduate majors, 150 graduate students), dynamic, and diverse, with

recently-constructed building provides state-of-the-art classrooms. Texas
