Job Description: The Department of Second Language Studies announces a tenure-track
Assistant Professorship to begin August 2013. The successful candidate will
hold (by August 1, 2013) a PhD in Second Language Studies, Applied
Linguistics, Linguistics, or related field, and be engaged in research on
instructed second language acquisition and/or its implications for language
pedagogy. Research potential is expected in an additional area of second
language acquisition research. Documented excellence in teaching (including
classroom teaching of English as a second or foreign language) is required.

The teaching load will be two courses per semester and include graduate
courses such as Teaching English for Academic Purposes, Methods for
Teaching ESL/EFL to Adults, and TESOL Practicum, as well as undergraduate
Second Language Studies courses. Candidates should be able to supervise
graduate teaching assistants in departmental ESL programs, organize teacher
workshops, and advise on aspects of ESL curriculum, materials development,
and implementation.
