I wonder whether the following examples would be counterexamples to
Tenny's locational deixis condition.

1. They carried some water with them
2. They have the whole evening before them
3. They left their families behind them

Anther commment: deictically oriented predicates have to be the 'unmarked'
member such as 'come' but not the 'marked' one such as 'go' to function as
a logophor. If that is the case, we would expect the following contrast
in English. But this does not seem to be the case.

4.a John pulled the blanket towards him <logophoric, so that him is OK>
b John pushed the blanket away from him <non-logo, so that him is bad>
