I am wrapping up my third and final year hear at LINGUIST List, having just earned a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology from Eastern Michigan University. Before coming to this field, I earned a B.A. in French and music from California State University, Long Beach, and a C.Phil in linguistics from the University of California Santa Barbara. In my past-life as a linguist, my interests were sociocultural linguistics, prosody, humor, language ideology, Japanese, and French. My research babies were:

  • The prosody of riddle openings: Formulaic wh-questions vs. conversational wh-questions in interaction
  • "I'm almost afraid to tell this": Risk and performance in formulaic joke telling in interaction
  • Women Can't Tell Jokes: Ideology in Interaction
  • Hillbillies of Santa Barbara: The Linguistic Performance of Rural Identity

Here at LINGUIST I have posted jobs, worked on the ColdFusion and quality control teams, assisted with grant proposals and reports, helped out with the GOLD ontology, maintained and updated the amazing E-MELD site, worked on the EasyReg site (coming soon...check it out!) and served as the illustrious back-up minutes-taker at weekly meetings.

My favorite thing to do is to watch movies with my cat...sad but true. Other than that, I love reading, dancing, cooking, singing, crocheting, and telling really dumb jokes. Anyone who knows me knows that last one is definitely true.

I have loved being a part of the LINGUIST List team. Thank you to Helen Aristar-Dry and Anthony Aristar for giving me this opportunity.
