My interest in Linguistics grew out of my love for languages. There has never been a day that I have not been fascinated by words, their meanings, their implicatures. Literature has been my area of interest for all my life, and "Linguistics" is the final sub-branch that my heart has settled on. It is scientific, certain and challenging.

My first semester at EMU as a Masters student, taught me many different facets of this study of language. We documented a language of Native American Origin*(Ojibwe) and it has already changed the way I look at morphological and syntactic structures of languages. The practical work with a Speaker, moved me immensely -- and I am intrigued by the anthropological resonance in the feild of Linguistics.

At the end of my first semester here, Prof. Helen Aristar-Dry asked me to join the team at LinguistList. I am very excited about this. I am also interested in 'discourse analysis,' semantics and look forward to extending my linguistic training to creative fields.
