I obtained BA and MA Degrees in Linguistics - with bias for Phonology - from the Universities of Uyo and Ibadan in 1998 and 2005 respectively, and worked from 1999 to 2009 as a Graduate Assistant - later on an Assistant Lecturer - in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, University of Uyo, Nigeria.

My romance with Language Documentation started in 2004 when I attended a DoBeS Summer School on Endangered Language Documentation at the University of Frankfurt. The shocking realization that most of the 500 plus indigenous Nigerian languages are endangered in some way brought a personal resolve to specialize in Language Documentation and the technology associated with it.

I decided to enroll for another MA in Eastern Michigan University because of the bonus offering of a Postgraduate Certificate in Language Technology, and the opportunity to serve in The LINGUIST List, which I consider the Center of Excellence in Language Documentation Technology. Currently, I am an Editor at The LINGUIST List and a team member of the LL-Map Project.

To use the wordings of a birthday card recently presented to me by the LL Crew, my being at the LINGUIST List is a testimony to the fact that great, big, giant, happy, elephant dreams do come true....
