Jost Gippert: Our Featured Linguist!

"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Notice: About 13 years ago I saw a BBC program in London where
they showed a linguist teaching children to learn a
language almost overnight.

He was from an Eastern European country and had been
conscripted into the German army (during WW2) as a
translator once his talents were spotted.

He was living in USA when I saw his program and was
charging about US$ 10,000 to teach a language at that
time.

Would someone know his name and how to contact him??
