"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Notice: The Center for Research in Syntax, Semantics and Phonology (CRISSP) is happy to announce that Prof. Guglielmo Cinque has been awarded the Francqui-chair 2010-2010. As titular of this prestigious chair, Prof. Cinque will give a series of five lectures at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel. The schedule is as follows:

January 20, 2011, 19.00-20.00: 'In search of UG' (inaugural lecture)
January 24, 2011, 13.30-15.30: A unified theory of relative clauses (I)
January 31, 2011, 13.30-15.30: A unified theory of relative clauses (II)
