Notice: Looking for a textbook, introduction to English linguistics for undergraduate non-majors.
The target audience is Chinese speakers who have learned English as a second language and are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in English-Chinese Translation and Interpretation. The textbook should cover introduction to phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. I am currently using McWhorter’s Understanding linguistics: the science of language (The Teaching Company, 2008), which is far from ideal. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
