"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Notice: Reading Comprehension Tests for ESL/EFL Students: A Survey

You are invited to participate in this survey. The survey is specifically for English as a second/foreign language learners, their teachers and parents. The survey is part of an Action Research Project on improving ESL/EFL students' achievements on reading comprehension tests. Approximately 1500 people will be asked to complete the survey. It will take less than 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. Your opinions are very important to the project.

Your survey responses will be stricly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential.
