Jost Gippert: Our Featured Linguist!

"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Notice: Dear Colleagues,

We represent a group of Armenian scientists who has been working on the development of computer translator since 1999. The methods used and the backlogs we have can be a basis for working out the following tasks:

* creation of two-sided computer translator, for the languages you are interested in. As the structure of the knowledge base is independent of the input or output languages, in order to develop a new translator, we only have to add the vocabulary and grammar rules of the new language into our translation system

* creation of the system of semantic search in the Internet and another text bases

* application of semi translator (input language semantic network) in the robotics, for discernment of commands in natural language

* annotation of large volume of the text information with the conservation of its basicsignification

* creation of a text analyzer, for identification of implication

We seek to find partners for the implementation of the above mentioned tasks.
