I am interested in hiring a researcher to work primarily on an individual basis analyzing text corpus, annotating linguistic features, compiling results and analyzing data discovered. I am envisioning this as a part-time 20 hour/week project for 6-9 months.

The goal of the project will be to develop a strategy for analyzing this information in an automated way, which would then be passed off to programmer(s) with NLP expertise who would write code to automate the process.

Since I'm new to the linguistics field, I'm not sure of the best way to structure this project and who exactly I should be looking for. Would someone with just an undergraduate linguistics degree be able to annotate linguistics features such as noun phrases, verb phrases, etc.? I am also looking for someone who has a strong understanding of statistics and who would be able to conduct statistical analyses. Does the part-time aspect make sense? How much would the individual need to be paid? My firm is based in NYC, so I would ideally want to hire someone local for face to face meetings.
