Hi, Linguists.
I have recently started doing voluteer work for a Seattle based non-profit that helps Southern Sudanese Refugees/immigrants in our area (there are about 3,000). I am hoping that there are some Dinka and/or Nuer scholars/speakers out there looking for an volunteer/outreach project and would be willing to help us translate the Washington State Drivers Manual into one or both languages. Translating these basic documents has proved
very helpful in a number of immigrant/refugee communities and we are excited about the project.
There are people in the community who do translation and interpretation work, but they are stretched quite thin, as you might imagine, so we are asking for your help.
If you are interested please contact me at tlm15@cornell.edu (I am a linguist) and please feel free to take a look at the organizations website http://www.sscw.org/
