After a couple of years in the Real World I decided to go back to school to get an Master's in Linguistics at Wayne State. I was an Art major in undergrad at Kalamazoo College with aspirations to web design but linguistics relates very well to my enduring interest in language and it encompasses so many fields that I see it as a very versatile investment in future career opportunities.

I had joined Peace Corps after I graduated and I served as a Water Sanitation volunteer in Mali, but when I returned to the States I found that good jobs were scarce and ended up working at Starbucks and then as a receptionist at a pediatrician's office, so I'm very excited to be back in school again and using my brain. Working at Linguist List is exciting for me, not just because of the experience and learning opportunities it affords, but because it relates in some way to my undergrad studies in web design.

I have several responsibilities here at LINGUIST List. I'm the team leader for the GOLDComm and LEGO projects. LEGO is a new grant project, in which we are developing a data interoperability network of GOLD-aware lexical items. I was until recently the team leader for the MultiTree project, and I still spend a lot of my time doing work for it, specifically inputting Niger-Congo trees. As Listserv Administrator, I handle mailing list and subscription issues, as well. My design skills are occassionally called upon for things like designing flyers, logos, and fun stuff for Fund Drive. All in all, I keep pretty busy and never get bored!
