Book & Journal Announcements
on The LINGUIST List
Message to Authors and Editors
Thank you for considering The LINGUIST List for your book or journal advertising. We get many requests from authors and editors to post announcements about their dissertations, journals, and books. We understand that a LOT of work went into writing and editing them, and we would love to post every submission we receive.
However, as the The LINGUIST List has grown, so have our costs. Maintaining the email list as well as the website now requires 18 graduate assistants whose educations are being supported by the work they do here. To help us continue our free service to our over 25,000 subscribers, we have resorted to charging publishers for advertising on the LINGUIST List.
As a result of this policy, we only accept submissions announcing publications from publishers. It may be that the publisher of your book or journal is already a Supporting Publisher. If so, just contact the publisher's office and ask that they submit your announcement. If your publisher is not a Supporter of LINGUIST List, maybe you could convince them to be one! Often all it takes is for a professional linguist to tell them how valuable posting on The LINGUIST List would be to them. Send them this link: http://linguistlist.org/pubs/pubinfomain.cfm, or have them contact Publications Manager Danniella Hornby
at
pubs
linguistlist.org to find out more about becoming a LINGUIST Supporting Publisher.
The annual fee for posting book and journal announcements on LINGUIST List is $1200. This entitles a publisher to post an unlimited number of announcements on LINGUIST during a single year. The fee for posting a single book announcement is $125.00. All Supporting Publishers will get their name and a live link to their website listed at the bottom of every book announcement sent out on The LINGUIST List.
Using The LINGUIST List to announce new publications is cost effective. With over 26,000 subscribers, there is no other way for publishers of linguistic material to reach their target audience so quickly and so cheaply. Nowhere else can a publisher get a better "bang for the buck."
We do make exceptions to the publisher fee in extreme cases, e.g. non-profit organizations. If you feel you fall under this category, contact Publications Manager Danniella Hornby at pubs
linguistlist.org to discuss the matter further.
