This volume brings together a selection of papers presented at the IXth International Conference on Translation and Interpreting, Prague, September 1995, co-organized by the Institute of Translation Studies, Charles University, Prague, and the Ecole de Traduction et d'Interprtation, University of Geneva. The conference was dedicated to the work of Jiri Levy and Anton Popovic and focused on the vital role played by translators' strategies and their creativity in the translation process.
