"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Dieser Sammelband soll einen Überblick über die Mehrsprachigkeit im
Alpenraum geben, insbesondere im Bereich des Rechts. In den einzelnen
Artikeln werden die historischen, politischen und institutionellen
Hintergründe, sowie die besonderen terminologischen Schwierigkeiten
verschiedener Harmonisierungs- und Normierungsprojekte durchleuchtet. Es
werden außerdem unterschiedliche sprachplanerische Ansätze und Strategien
vorgestellt, sowie die technischen Hilfsmittel, die in hierfür angewandt
werden. Die Beiträge wurden am 8. Februar 2008 an der Europäischen Akademie
Bozen vorgestellt.

Cette publication a pour ambition de présenter comment est traitée
actuellement la question du multilinguisme dans l’arc alpin, en particulier
dans le domaine de la communi-cation juridique. Les articles illustrent les
motivations sociopolitiques et institutionnelles ainsi que certaines
difficultés terminologiques rencontrées lors de projets d’harmonisation et
de normalisation linguistiques. Différentes approches et stratégies de
planification linguistique sont décrites, sans oublier les outils
informatiques alors utilisés. Les actes comprennent les communications du
séminaire, qui s’est tenu à l’Accademia Europea di Bolzano/ Europäische
Akademie Bozen le 8 février 2008.
