This book consists of eight articles by leading scholars investigating the acquisition of English by native speakers of Japanese. Because Japanese and English are typologically different along a number of dimensions, the studies in this book address issues which do not arise with other L1-L2 pairings. In addition, they cover a wide range of topics from the acquisiton of VP structures to Functional Category and present new methods of data collection. The studies all contribute to our understanding of these topics, and they are of current interest to researchers working on Second Language Acquisition.
