Werbung im Sozialismus? Es gab sie tatsächlich. Doch wie gestaltete sich diese andere deutsche, weil sozialistische Werbung, vor allem im Hinblick auf den Sprachgebrauch? Basierend auf der empirisch-heuristischen Analyse eines umfangreichen Korpus von DDR-Anzeigen stellt die Arbeit fest, dass sozialistisch-planwirtschaftliche Werbung tatsächlich anders war. Die enge Verflechtung mit der politischen Agitation und Propaganda und die mitunter bewusste Abgrenzung von der Werbung der BRD resultierten in einer funktionalen Trias der sozialistischen Werbung, die neben ökonomischen auch politisch-ideologische und kulturell-erzieherische Aufgaben zu erfüllen hatte. Dies alles führte zu einem besonderen Anspruch an die Werbesprache in der DDR und damit zu ihren spezifisch sozialistischen Ausprägungen.
