The main goal of this book is to present a detailed investigation of a number of movement types and especially of certain assymmetries that exist between them. The analysis is carried out within the principles and parameters framework of Generative Grammar, and is based on evidence from a variety of languages (among them German, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, Dutch, Polish, Bulgarian, Danish, Swedish, and Italian).
