The reasearch on modal particles has been vastly neglected over the years. Only when oral communication became the focus of interest of linguistic analysis did modal particles receive the attention they deserve. In the following dissertation the acquisition of German modal particles by Polish L2-learners is described and sequences of the acquisition order are shown. The dissertation ends by giving advice for the teaching of modal particles in the L2-classroom.
