Abstract:
|
|
The dissertation is aimed at the description and characterization of
infinitive statements as one of the means of expressing aspectual
invariants of the perfective and imperfective aspects in Russian and the
specificity of its rendering into English.
The research is done following the basic principles of Functional Grammar
with the application of such notions as functional-semantic category,
functional-semantic field, and categorial (aspectual) situation. The
practical and theoretical significance of the work consists in the fact
that the research results in a detailed description of the aspectual
variants as expressed by infinitive-statements in Russian– their semantic
and language peculiarities thus adding new data to help to structure the
aspectual system of the Russian language in a precise way. The analysis of
the translations reveals those interpretational components (A. Bondarko)
which remain unexpressed in English and can cause difficulties for learners
of Russian and be stumbling blocks for translators.
