Abstract:

This dissertation proposes to analyze the lexical field of a total of 26 4mental4 verbs, i.e. verbs denoting mental processes and states, in Middle English (c1150-c1500). It is based on the Middle English section of the 'Helsinki Corpus' with c. 608,000 words and the MED and OED. The dissertation will probably be completed in summer 2000.
