Abstract:

The main aim of the research is to prove the thesis that family can be observed and investigated using sociolinguistic methods on the basis of a concrete empirical material. The linguistic processes in family are being investigated experimentally by these methods especially supported by psycholinguistic procedures. The processes of adaptation and equalisation of the linguistic codes of spouses present the concrete object of the study. The social genesis of speech abilities has been investigated by statistic methods. The influence of such factors as place of birth, age, sex, education, profession, marriage duration as well as place of residence in the capital on the speech of individual has been proved. Also, the problem of language co-existence of different generations in the family has been studied. The self-estimation of the language speakers (110 inquired families from Sofia, Bulgaria)of the changes in their own speech, of the dynamics of language in society as well as of the status of slang and vulgar language in family and in microsocium has been commented.
