It was about one and a half years ago that I finally I arrived where I had always wanted to be and do what I had always wanted-- teach students, support small language communities and conduct research on African languages on my doorstep. The University of Cape Town and my new colleagues welcomed my efforts to establish the Centre for African Language Diversity-- CALDi as well as The African Language Archive-- TALA and I was recently appointed the Mellon Research Chair: African Language Diversity this initiative. CLIL in Asian Contexts: Emerging Trends
The Asian EFL Journal is one of the world's leading refereed and indexed
journals in the field of teaching and learning English. It provides a unique and
major forum devoted to discussions on English as an International Language
research and development.
The journal plans to publish a Special Issue on CLIL in Asian Contexts:
Emerging Trends in September, 2013. The aim is to provide a variety of
perspectives on matters related to Content and Language Integrated Learning
in the Asian context.
CLIL is becoming increasingly popular in various levels of education across
Asia. The research emanating from Europe is particularly informative to
educators merging content and language. It is, however, necessary to provide
a forum to reflect its growth in the diverse Asian contexts in which it is
Authors are encouraged to submit papers in the following categories:
Research Articles (RA) drawing upon data which are well-referenced.
Teaching Articles (TA) focusing on practical teaching methodologies with
Curriculum Contexts (CC), a new category which seeks articles describing a
CLIL program and its connection with content.
RAs should be between 7,000 to 10,000 words including appendices and
TAs should be between 5,000 to 7,000 words including appendices and
CCs should be between 1,500 to 2,000 words including appendices and
The deadline for submissions is 31st October, 2012.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
-CLIL at various levels of education
-ESP/EAP in preparation for or to support content instruction
-Language and content faculty collaboration
-CLIL classroom discourse
-CLIL curriculum design
We welcome papers from all corners of the globe, but preference will be given
to those with links to the Asian context, including Australasia and the Middle
East. Manuscripts should not have been submitted for consideration or
published elsewhere and should follow APA referencing.
