The journal, Virittäjä, published by the Society for the Study of Finnish (Kotikielen Seura), is the oldest and most important linguistic journal published in Finnish. It has appeared continuously since 1897.
There are four numbers per volume. Attached to each article is a summary in English, German or French. Virittäjä also includes overviews, lectiones praecursoriae (papers presented by doctoral candidates when publicly defending their theses), commentaries, discussion, and book reviews. (These do not have summaries attached to them.) Summaries from articles published from 1995 are available on the Web.
