This study attempted to validate three theories: Krashen and Terrel's theory of acquisition-learning, which involves three phases: hesitation/adjustment, transition/repetition and spontaneous speech; Krashen's Affective Filter Theory which considers the learner's emotional condition as a filter that can impede or facilitate the input needed for language acquisition; and Input Hypothesis which states that a language learner cannot be directly taught to speak fluently.
This paper concludes by underscoring the fact that the learner has to "acquire and 'learn the language' for he cannot monitor himself if he is not exposed to the language and if he does not have sufficient knowledge of its rules and conventions."
