This paper investigates the internal constituent structure and syntactic derivation of Persian VP core based on minimalist program as proposed by Chomsky (1995). The VP cores of Persian, depending on their own lexical heads as intransitive or transitive have different constituent configurations. It will be discussed that, in order to derive the syntactic structure of such verb phrases as well as (main/embedded) clauses, particular syntactic operations and relations such as Select(ion), Merge(r), complementhood, and thematic relations involve and produce convergent linguistic derivations. Furthermore, in Persian VP core constructions, the head-to-head relationship holding between the head verb and the heads of the noun phrase and prepositional phrase complements is different from that between the head verb and the head of the clausal complement.
