This paper documents the teaching experiences with Japanese students of German as a Foreign Language (DaF) at the somehow 'provincial' Saga University where the author succeeded to implement the LdL (Lernen durch Lehren, i.e. English Learning by Teaching) method which proves to be an approach extremely promoting learner autonomy.
