From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Description
Pacific Linguistics is a publisher specialising in linguistic descriptions, dictionaries, atlases, bibliographies and other materials concerned with languages of the Pacific, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Southeast Asia and minority languages of South and East Asia. We focus on data-oriented papers on little known languages in this region as well as on teaching materials in the region’s major lingua francas. We are also concerned to publish materials on endangered languages, and this is a major reason for the establishment of our Shorter Grammars imprint.
